Do you know an athlete, an amazing coach, a referee or someone who is an inspiration in the field of athletics? The Shaw JCC is seeking nominations for the Akron Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. This honor was established in 1971 to recognize Jewish men and women, 25 years of age and older, who live or have lived in the Akron area for 10 or more years.

 

Inductees will be honored at the Annual Meeting 2024 (details to follow). Visit the Front Desk for an application or fill out the Google Form Below. Nominations are due April 1, 2024. Self-nominations are welcome.

 

Qualifications:

1. The candidate, man or woman, must have resided in the Akron area for at least ten (10) years.

2. The individual must have been a participant, coach or officated in athletics.

3. Additionally, a non-athlete, exclusive of coach or sports official, such as an owner, founder, administrator and/or a comparable roll in sports, may be nonimnated if, in the opinion of the Screeening Committee, he or she made a significant and noteworthy contribution to sports in the Akron area on a state, national or international level.

4. A candidate must receive a majority vote from the Screening Committee to become a member of the Akron Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
