Nothing says summer like swimming pools and summer camps – and the season will be sizzling at the Shaw JCC of Akron. The outdoor pool will open Saturday, May 26 with extended hours, and the summer Camp JCC schedule, June 4-August 17, is packed with nearly 40 camps covering everything from the traditional camp experience to specialty camps such as horseback riding, basketball, soccer, arts and cooking.

Our goal is to make coming to The J a big part of your summer experience. The pool provides a fun, relaxing and healthy environment for all ages, and our theme camps cover every interest imaginable. Whether you come to swim, camp or get in a workout, we want The J to mean summer for you and your family.

New this year, The J is offering individual and family summer memberships that include a long list of perks: access to the award-winning outdoor heated pool, pavilions, basketball and tennis courts and poolside café in addition to pool slides, playground and baby pool for the kids.

Although membership is a great deal all year-round, we do offer summer memberships for those who want to take advantage of the outdoor pool and warmer months. But with our full-service fitness center and aquatics and group fitness classes, The J can be your year-round gym, pool, entertainment – all in one convenient and economic package for the whole family.

In the fitness center, members are welcome to take part in 70 (free!) group fitness classes held weekly, including yoga, Spinning, Zumba and TurboKick as well as have access to the full-size gymnasium, pickleball, basketball and racquetball courts, saunas, steam room and heated indoor pool and whirlpool.

Beyond the pools and gym, members enjoy discounts to swim lessons, youth and adult sports leagues, enrichment programs, personal training and massages, summer camps, onsite child care, preschool and dozens of other classes and special events. Members receive a significant savings up to $920 when enrolling their child(ren) in grades first through eleventh for summer Camp JCC.

Members may take advantage of year-round childcare solutions including a before and after school, a School’s Out program for holidays, in-service days and bad weather and onsite childcare while they work out. The Shaw JCC is also home to the Mandel Early Childhood Education Center for children ages six weeks to pre-Kindergarten.

The Shaw JCC opens its doors to everyone, including people of all backgrounds, religions, abilities and sexual orientations, and interfaith couples and families.
