As of January 1, 2019, individuals (ages 65 and older) who are covered under UnitedHealthcare’s AARP Medicare Supplement Program will no longer be enrolled in the SilverSneakers program as part of their benefits, however, the Shaw JCC is an approved facility under the new plan.
What does this mean for SilverSneakers members currently enrolled through UnitedHealthcare’s AARP Medicare Supplement Program? The Shaw JCC will continue to provide membership services to these individuals at a 50% reduced senior adult membership rate no matter their facility usage. These members will continue to have access to the Shaw JCC’s fitness center, including cardio and weight equipment, indoor and outdoor pools, group exercise classes including water fitness, racquetball and tennis courts and full gymnasium under the new plan, effective January 1st.
What’s next? Affected members will need to provide the Shaw JCC with a confirmation code on or after January 2nd. Confirmation codes may be retrieved through a variety of ways:
- Login to your account on or after January 1st
- Visit www.pwrfitness.com and enter the required information
- Call the UHC customer service number on the back of your insurance card
- Ask for help at the desk
Please bring your insurance cards and confirmation codes to the Shaw JCC on or after January 2nd to continue your membership. Questions may be directed to Membership Director Brenda Hite at bhite@shawjcc.org or 330-835-0049.
If you are covered under OPTUM Fitness Advantage, please be aware that this program is being rebranded to Renew Active and is still offered as a covered plan at no cost to our members. This plan is offered under the Medicare Advantage Plan and will be continued to be offered at the Shaw JCC. If your UnitedHealthcare insurance cards read “Medicare Complete,” no action is required in 2019 for current OPTUM Fitness Advantage members.
