Learn about brain health and how you can make the most of your brain as you age!

The brain is the most complex and important organ in your body. That's why keeping it healthy is critical—especially as you get older. It is natural for the brain to change as you age; but the central functions of your brain never changes. Its job is to help you make sense of the world and oversee your daily operations and life. So when should you start concerning yourself with brain health? Now! By taking steps to help keep your brain and body healthy, you can enhance your life now and even help reduce some risks to your brain as you age.

Throughout 2017, the Summit Home Health Care Service division of Menorah Park is collaborating with Shaw JCC to bring Akron residents lectures and workshops about brain health. The organizations are working with Menorah Park’s Center4Brain Health to bring the nationally recognized curriculum to Akron.  The International Council on Active Aging (ICAA) has chosen Menorah Park’s Center 4 Brain Health as one of North America’s most innovative active-aging programs for 2016.

Shaw JCC and the Summit Home Health division of Menorah Park will be kicking off the Brain Health series on January 31st with the lecture Brain Health As You Age: You Can Make a Difference at the Shaw JCC. This presentation will provide information on how the brain ages, what causes the brain to age, and how to help reduce the aging process of the brain. This lecture discusses risks and threats to the brain and techniques for improving brain health. Free memory screening will be offered to those who attend. The Brain Health series is free of charge; however RSVPs are required due to limited space.
